The well-known smartphone manufacturer brand ZTE, with the origin from China, are planning to launch their first ever 5G phone. This leak came in from Bloomberg, and the reality behind this is still unknown. Other mobile manufacturers too are trying to provide devices with 5G compatibility provided some compatible chipsets are manufactured. ZTE does not manufacture modems for smartphones so that they might rely on Giants like Qualcomm and Intel. Now Qualcomm and Intel sell their products to various smartphone manufacturers so whether it becomes the first device with 5G connectivity, that is still a question at hand.
ZTE and 5G
ZTE does not have the resources to manufacture a 5G compatible modem by themselves, so this puts ZTE at a disadvantage against other global smartphone manufacturers like Huawei, Samsung and Apple. Unavailability of homegrown modem keeps the company in the hopes of other chipset manufacturers to make the plan of manufacturing a 5G compatible device a reality.
The smartphone industry is competitive, and every manufacturer needs to make sure to provide the users with the best of everything to stay on top of the market. ZTE is known to provide some awesome devices like the Axon 7, but now the company’s idea to provide the best network is a step ahead. The network spectrum has evolved from 2G, 3G, LTE (4G) and now the upcoming highly awaited 5G. People’s expectations with the next generation network are very high, so if a company like ZTE manages to provide devices with compatible network solutions, the company is sure to increase their customer’s base. Unfortunately, ZTE has not yet launched any phone in India so for Indians whether ZTE manages to come up with such a device is not an issue. Unless the company plans to expand its branch in India, there is nothing much to be excited about for us.
