Xiaomi’s Redmi series smartphones have been around the market since the company started their business in India. Even one of the highest selling smartphones has been from Xiaomi’s Redmi series. An addition to that list is here as Xiaomi just launched the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6A in China. As of now, there is no release date announced for the Indian market but compared to Xiaomi’s flagships; this is a phone sure to hit the Indian market soon.
Xiaomi Redmi 6
The phone came as an official device from the Chinese Giant on Tuesday following a series of spec and design leaks in the previous weeks. Well, it is here now, and budget smartphone cannot get better than this. Redmi 6 is a successor to previously launched Redmi 5 with a horizontal dual rear camera setup, 2018 like 18:9 IPS display, face unlock with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. AI features in smartphones now are all in the hype now, and Xiaomi did not want to be left behind. They claim that this device comes with AI features for the camera, but the truth to that can only be found out after some days of end consumer usage.
Redmi 6 Specifications
As for the specifications we get a tall 5.65-inch HD+ 18:9 display with a claimed screen to body ratio of 80.7%. The company went with the MediaTek Helio P22 for the Chinese variant, but we can expect a Snapdragon chipset for the Indian model as that has been the case for all the previous Redmi phones launched in India. There are two variants of this phone, one with 3GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage and another with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It can be expanded up to 256 GB via Micro-SD card.
As mentioned previously, it features dual 12 MP lens and a 5 MP lens setup on the rear side. It has a pixel size of 1.25-micron with f/2.2 aperture. It comes with a portrait mode as the 5MP lens acts as a depth sensing sensor. On the front, we get a 5MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture. On paper, it looks like a decent camera setup, but the sample pictures are not out yet, so we need to wait to see how the camera holds up in real life conditions.
The Redmi 6 comes packed with a 3000 mAh battery which is pretty low as per today’s standards. Thanks to the smaller battery the company was able to keep the device 8.3 mm thick with a weight of 146 grams. But is a lower size battery more preferred than a thicker body?
Expected Price in India, Redmi 6 Flash Sale
The phone comes with all the necessary sensors along with the 3.5 mm headphone jack. These prices convert to sub 8,500 INR and sub 10,000 INR respectively, and we can expect a similar price tag as it is indeed a budget offering.
